When I first starting on the sketch for this painting the inspiration was based on the Russian bombing of Aleppo Syria. Now Russia has invaded Ukraine.

I understand that the depiction of any religious figure might trigger a reaction from some. My intent has never been to insight anyone’s anger but rather to rather to provoke thought.

For me the idea behind this image is to suggest that, knowing the consequences, this is someone who wants out of this story.

The background was painted be globing paint around firecrackers and lighting it!

This was a technique that my brother and I created when we were kids. My mother was very tolerant.
